Pullbox Reviews – Firefly: Watch How I Soar Offers Glimpses Into Everyone’s Favorite Space Jockey

All in all, How I Soar is a nice collection of well-written pastiches examining Wash’s life and character development, offering depth and backstory to a character who’d had little in the way of such previously. The tales are lovingly told by creators as appreciative of their source as any fan, and not without their occasional emotional gut punch, and Alan Tudyk’s conflict-avoidant, star-loving pilot’s sardonic wit issues forth loud and clear in every one. Pullbox Reviews: TKO Drops a Supernatural Noir Classic in Lonesome Days, Savage Nights!

With enough shadow and grit that you might need to wash your face and brush your teeth afterward, Lonesome Days, Savage Nights is a Dashiell Hammett meets Universal Monsters pulp noir masterpiece. Salvatore Simeone’s tale, as spun by Simeone and Steve Niles, weaves the classic werewolf mythos into an ebon dark story of pain, regret and revenge that left me with a nasty thirst for more. Pullbox Reviews: Children of the Grave Offers Post-Apocalyptic Mystery!

Romesburg and Roberts present us an intriguing concept with Children: a post-apocalyptic world that isn’t zombies and desert and mutated ugliness. There’s no Negan, no sadistic death races, no reavers. Rather, it’s idyllic, it’s beautiful, it’s warm and cozy and natural and—just perfect enough to be Children of the Corn—level creepy. (12/13)
