(Press Release and site info) Founded in 2015 by a combat veteran who personally experienced the positive impact gaming can have — emotionally and psychologically — on veterans, Stack Up is the only charity directly supporting the military and bringing together veterans and civilian supporters through the shared love of video gaming. Stack Up programs provide support and gaming benefits to U.S., NATO, Australian, and New Zealand veterans.
Stack Up (TAX ID: 47-5424265) brings both veterans and civilian supporters together through a shared love of video gaming using our primary programs: The Stacks, Supply Crates, Air Assaults, and the Stack Up Overwatch Program [StOP].
The Vision
To eliminate extreme symptoms of trauma, stress, and isolation in military service members past and present.
The Mission
To fight the effects of depression, combat injuries, and post-traumatic stress by bringing veterans and civilians together through the “shared language” of gaming.
Why Video Games?
We recognize that post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and emotional distress affect millions of individuals and are a leading cause of isolation, persistent health issues and hardships within our community.
Active duty military personnel face extraordinary pressure in the line of duty. However, after their service is over, we understand another challenge begins for many. It is okay to want to be healthy and seek help, whether facing troubling times, feeling a lack of purpose, or having lost the will to persevere. At Stack Up, we aim to break down the stigmas associated with these issues through the use of gaming.
The DonorDrive Fundraising Platform
DonorDrive is Stack Up’s online fundraising platform of choice. A live fundraising page on our DonorDrive is simple to set up and customize as you see fit. We believe in empowering our participants to support our mission whilst enjoying the community and content in their own channels!
About Call To Arms
Call To Arms is Stack Up’s year-long donation focus that fuels our mission of using the awesome power of video games to support US and allied veterans, as well as active duty service members around the world! The majority of our fundraising is driven by content creators who want to make a difference in the lives of those who serve their country.
Finally, if you’re looking for a more direct line into Stack UP & Call to Arms, social media personality & devout Eagles fan Liz Finnegan (some will know her better as the Gingerarchy & the face of comicbook zombie slayer Regina Ragowski) is a Community Manager, currently behind a push to hit a $6000 mark (that’s enough to sponsor three supply crates for deployed service men & women). For more information on the drive, check the link here.
It’s no secret, I (Paul) am a veteran & am constantly looking at how the comic book & gaming community reaches out to help those deployed. This looks like a great way to show some support, build goodwill, and help active duty as well as veterans shut off the bad for a little while. Take a gander and see if anything out there piques your interest.
Stay nerdy…
