Blurbs from the kickstarter –
- An adult comedy comic for those who enjoy adventure, mystery, absurdity, and shameless laughs.
- Fantastic Freaks is “The Hangover” meets “Dude Where’s My Car”
- “A hilarious, completely over-the-top, screwball comedy”
- A new and original short-run series, Fantastic Freaks follows Frankenstein’s monster (Frank) as he retraces his steps after a bender in order to find his most prized possession – his manhood – is missing. He recruits the help of his best friend Jackie to help him navigate the search before an internal device inside of him releases a deadly weapon.
Fantastic Freaks was written for fans of R-rated goofy comedies. This issue gave me laugh-out-loud moments, which is pretty hard these days, as Frank figures out his dilemma and then goes on his quest, which ends up being a brilliantly absurd tour through the monster-filled city of St. Fiend.
The writers have crafted a clever and imaginative story that draws readers into every bizarre detail of this fantastical tale. The comic is brimming with verbal and visual gags that demand multiple readings to fully appreciate. The artwork is the perfect match for this tale: clean, vibrant, and playful. With distinct lines and stunning colors, the visuals enhance the humor and make the world of St. Fiend feel alive and delightfully strange.
In my mind’s eye, I could easily see this becoming a film starring Seth Rogan
Bottom Line: Fantastic Freaks is immature storytelling storytelling at its finest, offering a wild ride that is equal parts chaotic and charming. If you back on Kickstarter this month – it should be Fantastic Freaks!
