Pullbox Previews Skin and Bone- Indie Horror Darling (Flesh and Blood) Returns With a Chilling Sequel and News of a Major Film Development

Award-winning tale of cannibals in the Scottish Highlands serves up a new chapter.

LONDON, November 15, 2024 – After a successful (and critically-acclaimed) launch earlier this year, White Hart Comics are back with the sequel to their indie horror hit, Flesh and Blood. Entitled Skin and Bone, this 128-page original graphic novel offers a direct continuation of the harrowing tale about cannibals wreaking havoc in the Scottish Highlands.

Set against a backdrop of corporate greed and shadowy conspiracies, the book quickly garnered a hungry audience, which naturally caught the attention of the entertainment world. As a result, Flesh and Blood is now being developed as a feature film by Envision Entertainment, in conjunction with the BFI, under the watchful eye of veteran producer David Barron (the Harry Potter series, Cinderella, The Legend of Tarzan).

No stranger to the world of film and television himself, novelist and screenwriter Simon Lewis once again brings his cinematic eye to the comic book page – and continues his symbiotic relationship with acclaimed artist and comics veteran, Chris Geary, who has worked tirelessly for decades alongside luminaries such as David Lloyd (V for Vendetta) on his long-running Aces Weekly and other popular UK titles.

“Chris and I first met thanks to a shared life-drawing class, which led us to discuss our inspirations and the idea of doing something more meaningful together,” says Lewis. “We have a lot in common, in terms of the stories we want to tell and the things we like to depict, so continuing this partnership with Skin and Bone seemed like a natural next step. We had this story in mind from the very beginning, and it’s great to be in a position to bring it to life as well.”

The savage Highland cannibals who terrorized her may be dead, but Ruth Saran is still plagued by nightmares. When a crashed lorry reveals a cargo that appears to contain human remains, and a masked stranger whispers, ‘It isn’t over,’ paranoia consumes her. Are there really others? A compulsive search unveils conspiracies far stranger than she ever could have imagined. Supernatural strangeness and gritty conspiracy drama collide in this follow-up to Flesh and Blood, which has been compared to Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber’s seminal classic, Whiteout.

Skin and Bone will be listed in the December PREVIEWS catalogue (DEC241921) for comic book stores, alongside a reoffering of Flesh and Blood (APR241852) which will arrive in stores early 2025. But eager fans can pick up early copies of the graphic novel at Thought Bubble Festival this weekend in Harrogate. Bringing together some of the world’s greatest comics and sequential talent, Thought Bubble is now a vital appointment on the pop culture calendar and features many exciting debuts.

Flesh and Blood can also be enjoyed on the newly launched FABLE comics reading app for smartphones, which offers the title in its unique vertical-scroll format. Readers can enjoy the full story over there before picking up print versions of the original title and its upcoming sequel.
