Mad Cave Talent Search Winner to Launch Creator-Owned Fantasy Comic On Kickstarter In August 2021
Mad Cave Studios Talent Search winner, Damien Becton, will be launching his sci-fi/fantasy epic comic THE FEW OF FARBETWEEN on Kickstarter, August 6. Set on the fantastical world of Farbetween that’s been invaded by a tyrannical AI robot horde where we meet diverse animal characters of the Animalia Nation, magic-users of the Golden Queendom, and tech-based people of the Mech State, there truly isn’t a book as unique as THE FEW OF FARBETWEEN on stands. This is a book for comic fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Final Fantasy established with action and adventure but grounded by characters learning to trust and rebuilding friendships.
So, what does happen when a robotic AI crash lands on a fantastical world full of magical creatures and beings? In THE FEW OF FARBETWEEN , Jeyada, a young black magic-wielding sorceress, reluctantly allies with a friendly, inferior version of the AI robot to prevent complete takeover! When these characters learn of a plot to sabotage the neighboring Queendom that keeps them safe, fates get crossed, friendships are built, trust gets tested, and, of course, lots of fun sci-fi fantasy action!
“This comic is Avatar: The Last Airbender meets The Mitchell’s vs. The Machines. It’s my love letter to all the Avatar , to Final Fantasy 7 and 9,” Damien states. “It’s an epic story on an epic scale all wrapped around distrustful characters learning to potentially let down their guard and trust someone for once.”
When the distrustful,14-year old sorceress, Jeyada discovers Blueprint , a friendly, older version of the robotic AI that attempted to take over Farbetween , she’s reminded of why she’s so distrustful in the first place. She remembers the pain and destruction caused by Blueprint’s successor, including the loss of loved ones and even one of her limbs when she was a child. As the two team up to unravel a mystery and prevent more damage, Jeyada begins to struggle with building up walls between her and her allies and saving everyone and potentially building a friendship with the being that she believes caused her so much grief.
