It’s a Sugartown showdown this season, as a brand new chapter in the Sweetie Candy Vigilante saga debuts for fans this February!
Fans got to meet Sweetie and her Candy Vigilante squad, and now they’re back to kick off a can’t-miss sweet new treat. Together with her shape-shifting, licorice-loving lycanthrope ally Candy Wolf, the newly minted ninjette warrior Pixie Stix, and other fabled allies, Sweetie is ready to face off against her “salty” arch-nemesis Bart Volgare and his gang of thugs. It’s all going down this winter in the icy, snowy streets of New York City with a violently delicious fury — or is that a flurry?
The battlelines are drawn, those on the side of sweets and those on the side of salt. Blood is spilled and lives are changed — and ended — as an army of supernatural beings, sugar-fueled allies, and more hop into action. Candy Wolf is ready to show the crime syndicate soldiers what big teeth he has, while Pixie takes a test-spin swing on the battlefield with her new nunchucks. Front and center is Sweetie herself, with her signature Jawbreaker gun, armed with delicious new ammo and unleashing sweetly sinister new confections designed to wash away the naughty and leave a wicked smile on the face of her foes, literally!
With missing parents, ice cream fueled monster trucks, and candy-coated carnage on each page, this is a delectable delight that no fan will want to miss! The first issue also comes with a FREE MP3 download of the new song “Hatchy Milatchy” by Misfits Records’ power pop-punk rock band Osaka Popstar recorded specifically for this series!
Creator/writer Suzanne Cafiero and Producer/editor John Cafiero, return for this honey-dipped, dark humor-infused horror and fantasy vigilante epic. Artist Thiago Vale joins on interiors for this series, alongside colors by Antonio Fabela. In addition, the first issue features six stunning covers for Sweetie fiends. Jeff Zornow, Ivan Tao, Josh Howard, Yonami, Ned Ivory, and John John Jesse all contribute options to pick from the metaphorical box of chocolates.
The series has been lauded by critics as “Picture Willy Wonka directed by Quentin Tarantino and you’re getting warmer” (Comical Opinions).
“Sweetie Candy Vigilante was one of my favorite series last year and continues being one of the standouts among the avalanche of books coming out each month. Like a technicolor grindhouse film… a gory pop-color epic reminiscent of the glory days of Heavy Metal magazine and late-night cult films… endlessly imaginative.” (The Comic Book Dispatch)
Osaka Popstar is the pop-punk multimedia music and art project led by singer/producer John Cafiero, longtime Misfits and Ramones collaborator and platinum selling film and video director.
