Top 10: Season 2 (Wildstorm – Cannon / Ha)
“The series details the lives and work of the police force of Neopolis, a city in which everyone, from the police and criminals to civilians, children and even pets, have super-powers and colorful costumes”.
The overall quality of these series is an A. The stories take their time to develop; the characters are strong, engaging and consistent. If you haven’t been reading since the beginning, all the trades are worth picking up (Top 10: The Forty-Niners , and Top 10: Beyond the Farthest Precinct). The stories are fast paced and meandering, you get a good feel for the pace of hectic precinct. Plus the possibilities for unlikely events are limitless, all wrapped up in a shell of very human stories. Think ‘Hill Street Blues’ with spandex.
Gene Ha skill is unfathomable. Solid, clear storytelling. His colors, or in this case painting (digital) is darn right beautiful. I miss his ink work though, but a guy’s got a right to try new things and stay stimulated, and I can’t complain about the results. There are few places he may have dropped the ball a bit, most likely due to deadlines, but there are an equal or greater number of spots where the style shines and excels.
Overall Grade: A, another solid overall effort and a worthy addition to the long line of great comics.
