DC Universe: Last WIll and Testament (DC – Metzer / Kubert / Kubert / Dell)
New York Times best-selling author Brad Meltzer (IDENTITY CRISIS, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA) makes his return to the DC Universe — and superstar artist Adam Kubert (ACTION COMICS) is riding shotgun!
The final battle is quickly approaching. How do the heroes of the DCU prepare for the end? Whom do they approach and say goodbye to before they make the ultimate sacrifice? Featuring the entire DC Universe, Meltzer takes us deep into the hearts and psyches of our heroes. It’s the day before you die. What would you do?
It is true that this issues hits the entire DCU, or at least the majority of it, but it focuses on the character of Brion Markov, AKA Geo-Force. It takes a phenomenally talented author like Brad Metzer to create a set-up where the readers are drawn into the story of a d-lister like Markov.
Yes, in this one shot on the night before Judgment Day (or at least as everyone perceives it) we get to see the counseling ability of Jefferson Pierce (Black Lightning), the true difference between Donna and Diana, who the heart of Dick Grayson belongs to, a very rare look into Challengers mountain (this is such an untapped property of DC), a moment in the walk of Captain Cold, a moment of worry and a dark prophecy from Clark… and the details go on. But this book is about Markov and his plot of revenge against Deathstroke. And longtime fans of Slade will get to something they have never seen before. This alone might make the issue worth the $3.99 cover price.
bottom line… great writing, great art… you’ll be sad if you don’t pick this one up.
