Salvation Run #7 (of 7) (DC – Sturges / Chen / Wong)
The unforgettable conclusion to the ultimate game of survival between the DCU’s villains! Who will live? Who will die? Will anybody make it home?
“Unforgettable Conclusion”? I don’t know who they think they are kidding here… Is it possible for a major cross-over book not to have a really lame ending? Gee, you mean Lex and Grodd were really building a teleport gate in secret, using some captured brain-swiped D-villains as the power source and then Grodd would make sure no one noticed using his mind-control powers. Lame! Didn’t realize Grodd’s powers were so vast to be able to trick so many villains at the same time over an extended period which would include tricking some major power characters, over-coming major psychic powers and oh yea, Martian Manhunter too.
I can just hear the voice mail now “Mr. Sturges, we have a Final Crisis coming up, yes, get the villains back pronto… and I don’t care whether or not it’s a feasible reason or not… yea just give them some sort of machine and Lex made out of stuff he found on the hostile planet”.
You know what this felt like? Do you remember when you saw Highlander 2, and they explain that the immortals were really aliens… yea, it’s kind of like that. The art by Sean Chen and Walden Wong is the only thing that saves this conclusion from being a total disaster.
