Secret Invasion #2 (of eight) (Marvel – Bendis / Yu / Morales / Martin)

Talk about a crazy issue! This is a true bookend to issue #1, starting right where that issue left off. Two groups of heroes facing off, each one thinking that the others are skrulls. Bendis, as per his usual self, put some incredible detail into the storyline and dialogue giving the fans a hardcore feel for what these characters might be going through. Leinil Francis Yu’s art is top notch, giving a hard edge to this already intense story. Warning – Spoilers below!!!: In last month’s reviews, I gave a couple scenarios as to how Marvel can conclude the shipful of 70’s heroes… and it seems that they are coming up with an alternative option of having a skrull mixed bag. We know that the Spider-man on the ship was a skrull, but Mocking bird was not (or at least she had the intimate memories of Mocking Bird) and she is convinced that the Captain America on the ship was not a skrull either… and if that is true, that might have worse ramifications and get an uglier reaction than the “One More Day” storyline from the Marvel-ites out there. The end scene of the issue brings the Marvel Universe to what might be a worse case-scenario, skrulls with super-powers…
Definetly looking forward to the next issue!
