JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #21 ( DC / McDuffie / Pacheco / Merino)
Meet Libra and the Human Flame, two central villains in the upcoming FINAL CRISIS! Where’d the Human Flame come from, and who does he hate more than anything in the universe? As Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman assess the future of the Justice League, their days may be numbered.
I first had a hard time getting into this issue. I liked the idea of the Big Three getting together in a secret clubhouse for a chat about life and the direction of the League. What I didn’t like was that the facial expression art didn’t seem to fit the dialog all the time. Even after the second reading, I didn’t feel like everything was synced as well it could have been. The secondary part of the story is the beginnings of the new Injustice League/Legion of Doom as brought about by Libra (whom we get a bit of background story on). It looks as if the all the bad guys, from the highest to the lowest, are gathering under one banner and are setting to strike out at the Justice League. Color me intrigued.
