Knights of the Old Republic #22 (Dark Horse – Miller / Weaver)
Woot! John Jackson Miller does it again with KOTOR #22! I’ve said it before; The Star Wars comics have made a huge jump in quality in recent years. The team of Miller and Weaver are very much a part of that. KOTOR takes place 125,00-100,00 years before the Battle of Yavin (Episode 4) and is set during the Mandalorian Wars. During a conversation with Miller last summer, he equated the Mandalorian War to World War II. It is the point in the Star Wars history where everything changed and the results of those events are felt in all the stories from that point on.
This issue continues the adventures of Zayne Carrick, falsely accused murderer, and his rag-tag crew. Zayne is still trying his best to keep a low profile, but the Force has other plans. Dark Horse comics says this about KOTOR, “The new story arc, “Knights of Suffering” begins here, bringing fugitive Padawan Zayne Carrick back to Taris-the scene of his alleged crime, now overrun by the Mandalorian army!
Deep in the lower city of Taris, swoop bike gangs battle Mandalorian troops in the streets. An organized resistance to the invasion was taking shape thanks to an old friend of Zayne’s, but something went terribly wrong.
Reunions and betrayals follow Zayne into the heart of a war zone in this action-packed new issue of Knights of the Old Republic!”
Zayne is a clumsy reluctant hero who is an absolute blast to read about. I can’t wait to see where Miller takes our heroes next.
