The Theater #4 (Zenescope – Gregory / Gill / Malgapo / Garcia / Crank!)

Two best friends find a monster living in their midst and the means by which they attempt to rid of it may very well turn them into monsters themselves. Meanwhile, the body count at the theater continues to rise as more is revealed about the horror within.

Creative mastermind Raven Gregory created and writes this monthly horror anthology from Zenescope.  Each monthly issue has a self-contained tale of suspense that is both smart and edgy – along with an ongoing “connecting” story that revolves around a mystical yet malevolent old theater and it’s equally diabolic work force.  Not a date night spot and horrifically bad news for anyone unlucky enough to buy a ticket.

This issue explores what lines you have to cross to keep your own neighborhood safe – can you go monster hunting without becoming a monster yourself?

The writing and visual components of The Theater are up to the normally high standards that Zenescope has set with it’s other ongoing series.  As his fans would expect, Raven Gregory is not afraid to pull punches in his writing so the content here is definitely pg-13+ which make it much more Stephen King and much less Goosebump-y.

If you enjoy Horror – you will want to get yourself copies of this great new series!

The Bottom Line: This series holds it’s own and earns shelf space among dark anthology classics like Creepshow, Tales from the Crypt, House of Mystery and HBO’s The Hitchhiker.
