Star Wars: Agent of the Empire #1 (Dark Horse – Ostrander / Roux)
The name’s Cross. Jahan Cross. Move over, James Bond; there’s a new secret agent in the galaxy, and he has the weight of the Empire behind him!
Cross’s mission takes him and his assistant IN-GA 44 to the affluent Corporate Sector. There, on the trail of stolen droid technology, they will rub elbows with diplomats and desperadoes, captains of industry and sergeants of the local police–and rub most of them the wrong way!
I have to admit, I have been at a real SW low lately – whether it was an overdose of The Clone Wars Series or getting bogged down with my second time through the New Jedi Order – I just haven’t really been pumped the way I should be about the Star Wars Universe.
Ostrander’s Agent of the Empire turned that around!
This is a fantastic series that will rekindle any love of the SW Universe you have and will make a fan out of anyone snooty enough to think they are above Lucas’ lovechild.
Iron Eclipse follows Jahan Cross – a fist-to-cuffs, wise-cracking imperial internal affairs agent during the time of “A New Hope”. This has a fast-moving story that not only has great action and good plot scaffolding, but also some cameos that will make fanboys stand up with comics in hand and cheer. John Ostrander definitely lives up to his reputation with this new series. The art is solid and the page / frame construction helps the tale flow smoothly.
