Myzery: Blood and Lust (Tragic Entertainment – Rivera / Diaz)

Enter the world of a sexy, seductive, blood driven assassin for hire known as Myzery. Her blood soaked missions follow a dark and deadly path as she pursues her targets, assigned to her by an unknown man called “The Contractor”. Witness the actions of a pristine killer who leaves no loose ends while pursuing her insanity fueled wrath. Myzery’s passion for killing will be your joy as the death toll rises with every issue.

This first issue really impressed me.  The cover (seen below) is gorgeous – but in all truth that made me a little weary, sometimes in the industry a basically cruddy book will disguise itself and hide behind a “hardcore hot chick cover”.  For Author Angel Rivera, the “hardcore hot chick” cover this was not a disguise but rather a mantra.

The book revolves around a sadomasochistic assassin who kills for money, politics and pleasure.  Angel Rivera’s story is well told.  His tale swaps back and forth between points in time so the reader can get a great intriguing story with a big reveal and details are revealed bit by bit.  The main character is an amalgamation of every femme fatale you’ve every read about with an added dose of “nasty crazy”.

This issue introduces the characters, the set-up and promises more adventures but is totally self-contained.  The art has some high points and show some great promise, but wasn’t quite as developed as the story / concept was.

The Bottom Line: An enjoyable but dark and deviant read!

Grade: Story: A; Art: B

Pullbox Warning: This is not for children – if a movie was made of this story (and it easioly could be) it would probably be a NC-17 rating for images, language and plot.
