Witchman Book #1 (Witchman – Young)

He has been Sent to Their World in order to Save his Own

Rowen of Cadabra has been charged with a delicate mission: Stop the goblins before they enter his forest. But in order to do that, he must leave behind his world of magic and danger and enter the strange world of civilization. Fitting in with the ho-hum locals during the day, and combating seven deadly goblins by night keeps Rowen plenty busy.

In this premier issue, a catastrophe causes the sleepy Cadabrans to finally take action upon those who would do them harm. Or rather, they assign the task to their most socially outcasted member. After finding out the details of his quest, Rowen sets off for the haunted tower, and meets the ice demoness who dwells inside.

Witchman is another gem I found while traveling up and down artist alley – This truly independent book shows that when you go  outside today’s mainstream market, there is still a high quality that can be produced and fantastic ability to be seen!  With Witchman, R.C. Young does nothing less than wow fantasy readers.

This first issue is a great adventure story – full of magic, creatures and pulpish action.  Young does an amazing job of capturing the perfect pacing and feel for fun fantasy romp.  Nothing too cheesy and nothing too dark.  This is a perfect read for perhaps the young readers in your life who are excited for Lord of the Rings, but can’t really handle the heavy reading.

The Bottom Line: After this first issue – Rowen will become one of your favorite adventure heroes – guarantee it!  This easily could become a animated series and rock out audiences everywhere!
