Moon Girl #1 (of 5) (Red 5 – Fox / Moldoff / Trov / Zito /  The Rahzzah / Bautista)

In the pulp New York of the 1950′s, Moon Girl looks to a life beyond her role as champion of the counter-culture and social revolution. However, she is forced back in to action when fanatics, inspired by her adventures, begin enforcing their own brand of justice.

On multiple fronts, indie presses are creating books that are pushing forth a “pulp” revival – trying to create a welcomed comeback for this period-piece genre to the general population.  Some have been great, some not so much.

Leading the assault should be Red 5′s Moon Girl, which is in a word – beautiful!

The word could also be gorgeous, captivating, sexy or delightful!

The female-centric pulp tale has exactly the character archetypes and plot details that any fan would expect – and the execution of the story in and of itself might make this comic worth cover price.  But, the art makes this book soar!

Even if the idea of having a melodramatic hero and villain try to outplay / dominate each other and claim victory over each other with having the fate of the world twist in the balance isn’t your cup of tea – you won’t be able to stop yourself from drinking deeply once you see the ground-breaking, incredible eye-candy that is The Rahzzah’s art.

This book comes out on the 20th – do yourself a favor, page through it first and then you won’t feel bad at all about paying out $3.50 for this book.

The Bottom Line: Top of the line art that puts 95% of the industry to shame + a great story = a phenomenal book that should go to the top of your list!
