After multiple years of declining quality with their printed outcome – it looks like Wizard Magazine (print edition) has come to an end! While there has been no official statement from Wizard magazine about this, there are multiple feeds (and more by the minute) confirming layoffs, canceled contracts and that this in fact the end of Wizard Magazine. As an added note, the magazine’s official blog site has been down and in “maintenance mode” for more than a few days now.
I first caught wind of this from Bleeding Cool – “I am receiving multiple confirmations from across the industry, through none yet from Wizard’s higher ups and PR people yet, that Wizard: The Guide To Comics, the magazine that covered the mainstream comics industry for twenty years and created all manner of careers in the process has closed, effective immediately. Or at least the print version has. Almost all Wizard magazine staff have been laid off, and all freelance engagements cancelled. Sister magazine Toyfare, covering the toy market, has not been affected, nor have the Wizard comic conventions.”
