Irredeemable #19 (Boom! – Waid / Krause)

Even as the living members of the Paradigm fail to stop the Plutonian’s rampage, salvation may be found in fallen comrades… and from a place none of them expected. Mark Waid’s Eisner Award-nominated series continues its genre-bending look at the morality of superheroes! Find out why Irredeemable is “one of the most inventive, absorbing new superhero stories of recent years”!

This issue was an incredible upswing for me and Mark Waid’s Irredeemable, some months I think it’s original and solid and other months it seems like Waid is seeing just how much bizarre off-topic garbage he can put into one title.  Like I said, this was far and away one of the better issues.

As always, Peter Krause’s art is very solid.  Krause has been there for Waid through the good, bad and just way off-center.  The remnant of the Paradigm throw everything they have at the Plutonian (and with a little help from an evil alien conqueror race) actually get some footing.  Can they actually contain the Plutonian?  This doesn’t come out until tomorrow, so I don’t want to give it away but the last 4-5 pages is the type of set up that has made Waid the iconic name he is.  This is ish is one of the tops that this series has to offer and I can honestly say that I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Well done Mark!

The Bottom Line: Waid and Krause at their best!
