Muppet Peter Pan – Another Family Hit from Boom Kids!

Muppet Peter Pan #1 (Boom Kids! – Randolph / Mebberson)

The timid Kermie Pan resides in the magical realm of Neverswamp, where the pushy fairy Piggytink tries to toughen him up! One night, while searching for his shadow, Kermie Pan and Piggytink encounter the Darling children, who run away to Neverswamp and encourage Kermie Pan to battle Captain Gonzo! Features A covers by Eisner-award winning MOUSE GUARD artist David Petersen!

The new Boom Kids! division is taking the family friendly sector of the comicsphere by storm!  At first my fellow geeks and I might have been a little hesitant about a company having the comic rights to both the Pixar catalog and Henson’s beloved muppets – there is no lack of evidence on how comic companies have destroyed licensed characters – but any and all hesitation is dismissed after you read just any of the Boom Kids! titles, let alone one of the best so far: Muppets Peter Pan!

Sam the Eagle has it out with the narrator…  Peter Pan learns to fly using piggy-dust…  Janice is the free-thinking eldest daughter…  This is all creative genius coming from relative unknown Grace Randolph.  Fantastic and funny!  And the art from Amy Mebberson is quite possibly the best I have seen come out of Boom Kids yet!  Her pages capture the Muppets with perfect precision! I do not hesitate to recommend this book and will all but guarantee this will become a family favorite!  This is a new standard!
