Muppet Robin Hood #1 – Jim Henson would be proud!

Muppet Robin Hood #1 (of 4) (Boom! – Beedle / Villavert)

The Muppets tell the Robin Hood legend for laughs, and it’s the reader who will be merry! Robin Hood (Kermit the Frog) joins with the Merry Men — Sherwood Forest’s infamous gang of misfit outlaws — to take on the stuffy Sheriff of Muppetham (Sam the Eagle) and the wicked Gonzo of Gisbourne! Series features “A” covers from David Petersen, the Eisner Award-winning creator of Mouse Guard!

Tim Beedle, famous for his manga fantasy books, hits genuine gold for the Boom! kids line with Muppet Robin Hood. It captures the intelligence, humor and pure fun that was Henson’s Muppet Show. Armant Villavert Jr., the artist, brings the muppets to life straight from your fondest memories – no clunkiness or stretches at all!  Nothing but enjoyment!

I don’t want to say anymore, because I simply can’t tell you enough that this will be the book you can enjoy with your entire clan!  This issue confirms my long-running belief that the Muppets are always at their best when telling a story.

Issue grade: A+

btw, while I am not a huge manga fan, this does make want to go and check out both Beedle’s and Villavert’s work that they have done with Tokyopop!
